Lessons in Photography is an exhibition of collage, video, and sculpture that explores issues of representation in photography. Drawing from photographic manuals, instructional books, and videos, Jackson Klie and Michelle O’Byrne create multimedia appropriations that retain evidence of their original source materials.

The final works are layered, eerie, and graphically engaging, and reveal the contingent nature of photography through the deconstruction and reconstruction of its original form. At once seductive and disturbing, Lessons in Photography is an exhibition of enigmatic works that are revealing examinations of the act of looking.
